This number is a snapshot. Child support depends on parenting time, and parenting time drifts — swapped weekends, changed holidays, summer schedules. Vireo keeps the custody calendar, messages and shared expenses in one timestamped record, so what actually happened is never a matter of memory.

Look up the basic obligation for the parents' combined monthly net income and number of children in SDCL 25-7-6.2, then allocate it in proportion to each parent's net income; the noncustodial parent's share is the presumptive order. Apply the limited-income comparison in the emboldened schedule area and then statutory custody adjustments and add-ons.
How income is counted: Monthly net income begins with gross income from employment and other statutory sources under SDCL 25-7-6.3, less only the deductions allowed by 25-7-6.7. The court may consider self-employment profit, assets, and imputed income; effective July 1, 2026, presumed/imputed income generally may not be below 1,820 hours times the current state minimum wage, subject to statutory exclusions.
