Compute each parent's PICS and combined PICS; use §518A.35's basic support table for the number of joint children; allocate by each parent's PICS percentage; apply the §518A.34 parenting-expense adjustment using court-ordered overnights/overnight equivalents; then determine child-care support and medical support under their separate statutory provisions and test the obligor's self-support reserve.
How income is counted: Parental income for determining child support (PICS) is gross income under §518A.29 less specified deductions, including nonjoint-child deductions and certain spousal-maintenance deductions. Potential income rules apply when appropriate.
