Combine adjusted monthly gross income; compute income shares; obtain the basic obligation from R.S. 9:315.19; add net child care, child health insurance, extraordinary medical and allowed extraordinary expenses and subtract child income adjustments; allocate by income share and subtract direct payments. Shared custody multiplies basic support by 1.5, weights theoretical obligations by time with the other parent and offsets.
How income is counted: Gross income is income from any source subject to the detailed inclusions, exclusions, self-employment and potential-income provisions in R.S. 9:315; adjusted gross income subtracts preexisting child and spousal support actually paid.
