Combine monthly adjusted gross incomes; obtain the basic obligation from the Rule 32 schedule; add allowable work-related child care and health-care-coverage costs; allocate the total in proportion to each parent's adjusted income; credit amounts paid directly. For equal (50%) shared physical custody, Form CS-42-S applies 150% of the scheduled basic obligation, allocates it by income, then applies cost and shared-custody credits and offsets the parents' results.
How income is counted: Monthly gross income from any source, including salaries, wages, commissions, bonuses, dividends, severance, pensions, interest, trusts, annuities, capital gains, Social Security benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment, disability, gifts, prizes, and preexisting periodic alimony; self-employment income is gross receipts minus ordinary and necessary expenses, subject to Rule 32 exclusions and imputation rules. Adjusted gross income subtracts permitted preexisting child-support and periodic-alimony obligations.
